Head of the Cancer Research Center: Cancer Growth in Iran is Several Times Higher Than Population Growth

The mortality rate from cancer in Iran has been decreasing annually, and our ability to treat cancer is comparable to the most advanced countries. Despite this, cancer remains the second leading cause of death in both Iran and the world.

In the next 20 years, the death rate from cancer among men is expected to double.

The deadliest cancer among both men and women is stomach cancer, followed by lung, liver, colorectal, prostate, breast, and esophageal cancers. Stomach cancer is considered a social issue as it is linked to hygiene, climate, pollution, oral health, salt consumption, and drinking hot tea.
